What the PRESS said....

What the PRESS said last time the Irish ministry visited New England, U.S.A.
(note: reports are from secular media and so understandably, some may be a little skeptical. Their terminology may not be as some Christians would prefer but we appreciate their honest witness.)
![]() The laying on of hands (from The Sun Times, Thursday, July 23, 1992). Elsie Burke, of Westbrook, who said she was partially deaf, claimed to have had her hearing restored. After lying on the floor approximately two minutes, Burke was helped to her feet and handed the microphone. She then took her hearing aid out of her ear, waved it in the air, and proclaimed that she was miraculously able to hear. "When he (Kelly) was praying over me, I couldn't hear a word he was saying." she said, describing her experience. "But when I woke up, I could hear the words of the music in the background that I couldn't hear before. I can hear!"
At one point, there were up to five people lying on the floor at once. While on the ground, people's eyes were shut, but obviously moving rapidly up and down. Leaning over them, Kelly called on Jesus to heal the person, frequently breaking into what sounded like a foreign dialect. He explained after that it is called "The gift of tongues," a supernatural language he uses frequently at their meetings... Another woman, who had been suffering from severe pain in one of her ribs as a result of an automobile accident, said her pain was gone. "I was a skeptic before tonight," she said. "But now I know I'm a believer". "It really works. I've been taking 1,000 milligrams of Motrin a day for the pain, now the pain is gone." And so the meeting went, lasting almost three hours....
Out of the 70 people interviewed, not one said they did not feel anything out of the ordinary. Every person interviewed said they felt a warm powerful, peaceful They have been staying with Jim Gerry and his family for the past month at their home in Limerick. Gerry, an automobile dealer, opens his home to them when they are in the area, and even lends them a car to use. He met them when he attended a meeting they held in New Hampshire, where Gerry said Kelly healed him of chronic arthritis that he had suffered from since he was 13 years old. |

Five faith healers came here to heal the blind, the lame, the sick, those with ailments, and those with terminal illnesses. But more importantly to them, they are here working to bring people to a closer relationship with Jesus Christ………………….. ……………….. people attended Thursday night’s meeting, travelling not just from around Sanford, but Hollis, Waterboro, Biddeford and Farmington, N.H., to be healed. ……As Kelly said a prayer over each one, many of those fell straight back into the arms of someone prepared for their fall. They then laid on the floor almost in a trance for several minutes before getting up…… “After Kelly said a prayer for me, he touched me and I fell back,” said Ralph King of Hollis. King, who has diabetes and had a blood sugar count of 400, an extremely dangerous level, was recently healed by Kelly, who brought his level down to 150, at a meeting the ministry held in Hollis. Since then, King has been attending all the ministry’s meetings he can make it to, he said. Eleanor Delrymple of Waterboro also travels to many of their meetings, after she was healed by Kelly at a meeting held recently in Waterboro. Kelly told the audience, “I’m not doing the healing, the Lord is”. |
